The attic conversion in Vienna’s 3rd district is located in a protection zone and the existing building is part of a bigger residential neighbourhood the roof scape of which forms an entity. The newly erected space joins the existing roof which remained unaltered on the street-facing side.

The street-facing mansard roof of the living room was converted into a barrel-shaped, two-storey space with gallery und access to the roof-terrace by means of a cylindric curvature of the interior planking. Here the garden-side roof was opened generously - the lowest levels included - whereby sufficient direct and indirect daylight is brought in.
