Determined by the location of the building site, which is bordered by streets on two sides and slopes gently to the south, the screening of the garden and terrace areas from the public roadways was achieved by elongated orientation of the house along one street and the levelling of the garden, necessitating the construction of elevated earthworks with a retaining wall.

This functional intention is expressed and documented by the interplay between the surrounding garden wall and the exterior walls of the building.

The „screening“ from outside is contrasted with the entrance zone, which is specifically emphasized by individual elements and which focuses attention on the entering of the house as movement from outside to inside. The pavilion on the roof terrace, vantage-point for the mountain range which is clearly visible from here, the Karawanken, simultaneously forms a plastically effective conclusion towards the south.
